Graduating in 2000 and 2002 with a diploma and degree in Graphic Design and Design Studies, Ricardo quickly established himself as a creative within the fields of fashion, music and entertainment. For the next ten years, Ricardo gained valuable experience working on projects where his innovative approach and keen eye for detail earned him recognition among his peers.
In 2012, Ricardo decided to share his wealth of knowledge and passion for design by transitioning into the realm of higher education. Embarking on a new path, he joined London Metropolitan University as a lecturer in Graphics and Web Design. Here, he devoted himself to nurturing the next generation of designers, inspiring them with his practical expertise and academic insights.
Ricardo was promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer in Graphics and Web Design in 2013 followed by a further promotion to Senior Lecturer in Digital Innovation in 2016. In this role, he played a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and spearheading projects and modules that pushed the boundaries of traditional visual communication and digital technologies. His dedication to fostering creativity, collaboration and encouraging critical thinking has been a key factor in the upward trajectory of modules he has taught on alongside colleagues.
Always seeking new challenges, Ricardo's entrepreneurial spirit led him to venture into the realm of online business. In 2020, he founded Simba and Sloane an innovative online bookstore, which catered to a niche audience of design enthusiasts and book lovers.
Now a full-time faculty member, Ricardo continues to dedicate his time to guiding aspiring designers and scholars on their journey towards excellence.
